Green is second nature for Dri-release

Optimer has released a new eco-friendly version of its Dri-release with FreshGuard yarn.
The company launched a product called called Dri-release E.C.O. [Environmentally Correct Origins] last year, using recycled polyester and organic cotton. The latest version is Dri-release E.C.O. 2nd Nature, made from 100% recycled materials such as post-consumer recycled polyester with post-industrial recycled cotton made from garment manufacturing clip waste. The new product also reduces the amount of waste in landfills, as well as the water, pesticides, dyes and electricity used to produce and process cotton; 2nd Nature is also certified by Oeko-Tex to be free of harmful chemicals.
Optimer has explained that it wanted to give customers using the E.C.O. group of yarns more options.
Dri-release is constructed of a blend of synthetic and natural fibres that accelerates the water-release rate of wet fabric. Since being developed, Optimer has introduced over a dozen adaptations of the original virgin polyester and cotton versions of the technology, including Dri-release Wool (polyester plus merino or non-mulesed wool), Dri-release Bamboo (polyester plus bamboo) and others.
To produce the new E.C.O. product, Optimer has teamed up with Ferre-Hickory, LLC, a joint venture between Hilaturas Ferre (Spain) and North Carolina Hickory Throwing Company.
