Argotec takes control of film joint venture
17/04/2009
Argotec, a Massachusetts-based manufacturer of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU/PU) films and sheets, has announced that it has taken full ownership of Omniflex LLC and of its Transport, Vacuflex and Natural Elements brands.
Argotec was previously involved in Omniflex as a joint-venture partner with Shawmut Corporation of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts. It has now bought Shawmut out. Terms were not disclosed.
Omniflex specialises in the production of waterproof-breathable films for use in performance apparel and footwear markets, thin films for automotive interior fabric laminations and foam-in-place seating, as well as antibacterial and viral barrier films for medical device and wound care applications.
The company’s apparel and footwear films can also be formulated with antimicrobial technology to create waterproof-breathable, odour-control textile composites with a single-film lamination.
This acquisition will allow Argotec to offer a complete line of specialty film products and further bolster its existing brands. President and chief executive, Bruce Wilby, stated on announcing the development: “This will not only open new opportunities within our core businesses, but will better serve existing Argotec customers by making the broadest range of polyurethane films available under a single corporate umbrella.”
