FIFA has named Total Apparel Group as its distribution partner for the US and the Caribbean for branded clothing and accessories for the next FIFA World Cup, which will take place in South Africa in 2010.
And Total Apparel has wasted no time in appointing, in turn, international trade consulting firm Velody Trade to create, implement and manage all of the its supply chain processes and procedures for FIFA World Cup merchandise.
The licence covers exclusive distribution rights across the US and Caribbean market of official merchandise, including apparel, footwear, headgear and accessories for children, women and men.
The last FIFA World Cup, in Germany in 2006, drew more than 26 billion cumulative television viewers for 64 matches and generated more than $2 billion in FIFA-related retail sales globally. Of the 6.8 billion people in the world today, FIFA claims that 6 billion follow football and have an interest in the sport’s most important tournament.
