Global demand for cotton falls in February

Official figures from the US Department of Agriculture, global consumption of cotton fell by 1.2% in February compared to the same month in 2008.

Demand for cotton in China fell by 1 million bales in February 2009, which accounted for three-quarters of the global decrease.

There was also a decrease in the US, where demand for cotton in mills fell by 100,000 bales lower.
