Egypt reverses Indian cotton decision
23/04/2009
Egypt has reversed a decision it took at the start of this year to impose an additional 25% duty on imports of Indian cotton. The extra duty came on top of import duty.
The news was welcomed by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry, which had opposed the original move.
India is the biggest exporter of cotton yarn to Egypt, sending cotton yarn and fabric worth about $114 million to the African country last financial year.
