Wacker expands China technical centre
Munich-based chemical group Wacker has finished expanding its Shanghai Technical Center, which is located in the Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park. The facility now comprises more than ten laboratories for its silicone and polymer activities, serving a wide range of industries including textiles, coatings and adhesives. The €1 million investment is intended to boost the company’s local research and development competency and ensure better customer support for the Chinese market.
The expansion has doubled the total floor space to 3,400 m². All of its laboratories have been enlarged and modernised, while several new laboratories have been set up to meet growing market needs.
“Even though the economy is going through challenging times right now, Wacker’s commitment to the Chinese market remains unchanged,” says Dr Peter von Zumbusch, president of Wacker Chemicals Greater China. “We will continue to develop the existing local facilities and business here by making more investments in the coming years.”
