JD Sports acquires Chausport SA
UK-based JD Sports has acquired Chausport SA for EUR eight million. The company will also inherit net debt of EUR two million.
Chausport was founded in 1980 and is a major sports footwear retailer in France with 78 stores. With its base near Lille, Chausport is particularly well represented in Northern France. The current management team, headed by CEO Jerome Lepoutre, who was one of the original founders, will all remain with the business.
Peter Cowgill, executive chairman at JD, said: "We are very pleased to announce the acquisition of Chausport, which will give us a foothold in a new and sizeable European market. By drawing on the current management team's expertise, we are confident that this acquisition will bring both financial and strategic benefits in the future."
