EATP hosts “lively and successful” conference
The European Association for Textile Polyolefins’ (EATP’s) annual executive seminar in Madrid, held May 11-12, was deemed a success by the association.
The theme was ‘Meeting the challenge of recession in polyolefin textiles’. Eleven presentations by industry experts were given, covering topics including: global change in fibres and textiles; innovation; sustainability; and technical textiles.
EATP director general, Colin Purvis, commented: "This was a very lively and successful conference, with a series of outstanding presentations. It demonstrates the dynamic approach of the European polyolefin fibres and textiles industry, even in a period of extremely difficult markets.
"The future of the industry will be based on innovation, efficiency, quality, good marketing, outstanding customer service and the highest standards of environmental responsibility. European producers are continuing to look to the future, and the value that they provide to their customers will be the basis for renewed growth as their markets emerge from recession.”
Textile polyolefins are a major sector of the European textile industry, producing polymers, fibres, fabrics and a wide range of other products, from polypropylene and polyethylene.
European output of polyolefin textiles exceeds €3 billion a year.
