Salewa kits out Cristina

Italian mountain climber Cristina Castagna has received specialist clothing and equipment from outdoor brand Salewa in preparation for a trip to the Himalayas during which she will attempt to climb two of the peaks in the Karakoram range.

Ms Castagna’s latest expedition will involve attempts on Broad Peak and Gasherbrum, both among the 14 eight-thousanders, independent mountains that stand more than 8,000 metres above sea level. If successful, the two new attempts will bring Cristina Castagna’s tally to six of the 14.

The Italian outdoor brand has given her a range of products from its latest alpineXtrem PRO collection to use. The collection comprises lightweight, durable, breathable garments. Salewa says it has developed the products in conjunction with mountain climbers, who have tested each item in the field.
