Brooks buys into bio-based TPU

Brooks Sports has chosen to Merquinsa’s Pearlthane ECO thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) as part of its commitment to producing more sustainable footwear for the sports and outdoor market.

Pearlthane ECO is the Spanish company’s new bio-based TPU, made from renewable sources. Brooks Sports believes its running will have a reduced impact on the environment from now on, without compromising on performance or style.

“At Brooks, we are working to incorporate Pearlthane ECO TPU into future footwear designs,” said Brooks future concepts manager, Derek Campbell. “Brooks is committed to fostering an environment where life can thrive for the long run, and we can help do our part through the responsible use of materials such as these.”
