Federer cuts a dash

Tournament favourite, Roger Federer, turned heads on the Centre Court of Wimbledon on June 22, and not just because of his play.

The Swiss star cruised to a first-round straight-sets victory over Taiwan’s Lu Yen-hsun, but he had already wowed the London crowd by walking onto court wearing a long white military-style full-length jacket, which he took off to reveal a silk white waistcoat. He removed the waistcoat too before play commenced, but most observers agreed it was a stylish start to the two-week tournament.

One BBC commentator said the outfit reminded her of the famous Sergeant Pepper look from the 1967 Beatles album of the same name.
