Trail socks get silver treatment

Textile solutions provider NanoHorizons has signed an agreement to supply its SmartSilver antimicrobial nanotechnology to outdoor brand Wigwam for use in a new line of trail socks.
The two companies say the socks, called Wool Runner, will offer outdoor enthusiasts “comfort, protection and an odour-free performance that lasts for years”.
The range is based on US-raised merino wool and the durability of the antimicrobial functionality in the socks stems from the fact that the SmartSilver solution goes into the fabric at nano level making it permanent. They will be on show at both companies’ stands at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in July.
