Can sport compromise clothes' sun protection?

Lenzing will present its Tencel Sun product during July at the European Outdoor exhibition in Friedrichshafen and at Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City.
The company says that the fibre, developed specifically for activewear, offers "permanent and inherent UV protection", which it has been able to achieve by integrating pigments. Tests have shown that a sunscreen level (SPF) of up to 110 can be reached.
One function that the Austrian fibre manufacturer says is unique is Tencel Sun swells up, which means clothing containing it will lose little of their capacity for protecting wearers from the sun during outdoor and sports activities. It says conventional fabrics can lose more than half of their solar protection when they become damp or stretched.
