Texbrasil brings Egyptian buyers to Brazil

Texbrasil has welcomed a number of Egyptian buyers to Brazil for the first time in a bid to encourage stronger ties between the two countries.

According to the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (ABIT) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) who run the Texbrasil export support programme, Egypt is an important buyer of Brazilian textiles. However, Brazilian apparel exports to the North African country could be a lot higher.

A number of Egyptian buyers stayed in São Paulo until the end of São Paulo Fashion Week and, in addition to attending a number of fashion shows, they also participated at the Texbrasil lectures and visited the city’s main fashion showrooms including Clube de Estilo, Galeria, Conceito, Casa Moda, Maria Eugênia and Contemporâneo.

“It is extremely important for these buyers to come here for us to understand Egyptian, and most especially North African consumption, where it functions like a gateway. This action is part of a series of activities Texbrasil has planned for the second semester of this year with the objective of promoting domestic textile industry exports to the region,” explained Rafael Cervone Netto, executive director of the Texbrasil programme.

Texbrasil also supported buyers from other countries such as Germany, France, the US and Spain.
