Zegna Baruffa and Filatura di Chiavazza to merge

06/07/2009
Italian yarn producers Zegna Baruffa and Filatura di Chiavazza S.p.A. have signed a preliminary merger agreement. They believe that integrating the two companies will offer greater production and commercial effectiveness.

Maria Elisabetta and Alfredo Botto Poala, major shareholders in Zegna Baruffa, and the Borsetti family, owners of Filatura di Chiavazza, are behind the move.

Zegna Baruffa worsted products, from classic “cashwools” to fine cashmere, will now be marketed alongside the  carded yarn products produced by Filatura di Chiavazza. Zegna Baruffa, which is present in 50 countries across the world and has more than 2000 active customers, will be able to market Chiavazza’s well known yarns alongside its own when the merger is completed.
