NanoHorizons, a provider of nanoscale performance additives for textile applications, has entered into an agreement with Taiwan-based Widetech, under which Widetech will distribute the SmartSilver antimicrobial performance brand to the Taiwanese textile industry.

SmartSilver antimicrobial additives are engineered to integrate silver nanoparticles at the molecular level. According to the company, they provide permanent, safe, and cost-effective protection against bacteria associated with odours, infection and material degradation in a variety of products, including natural and synthetic fibres and fabrics.

SmartSilver additives are approved by Oeko-Tex as being free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances believed to be hazardous to human health. The additives are also US EPA registered.

“We are pleased that Widetech has become an important partner in expanding our market in Taiwan,” says Timothy Skedzuhn, VP textile business unit, NanoHorizons Inc. “Widetech has a successful track record in the advanced chemical additive business, drawing on global sourcing as well as its own formulations to meet its customers’ demanding technical requirements. We believe that SmartSilver’s unique combination of benefits will make it a strong addition to the Widetech product portfolio.”
