Profits plummet at Sports Direct

16/07/2009
UK-based sportswear chain Sports Direct has reported that annual pre-tax profits fell 91% year-on-year to £10.7 million in fiscal 2009 compared with £118.9 million in 2008.

However, the group claims it is a “clear market leader” in the UK sportswear retail arena, with UK sales exceeding £1 billion.
According to the firm’s CEO, Dave Forsey, the results were “solid” and that the company has strengthened its position in the UK, its core market.
