Indian textile delegation visits Japan

A delegation, led by Thiru Dayanidhi Maran, India’s textiles minister, is to visit Japan on July 20. This will be the first time the two countries’ textile ministries have arranged a delegation of this kind.

The 17-member delegation comprises representatives from the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (Texprocil), the Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Promotion Council (SRTEPC) and the Knitwear Technology Mission, along with textile manufacturers and exporters from the Tirupur and Coimbatore textiles clusters.

Mr Maran will inaugurate the Indian Pavilion at Japan International Fashion Fair (JIFF) on July 22. The Fair runs until July 24 and 44 Indian textile and clothing firms will appear at the fair.

During the visit, Mr Maran plans to meet Takeo Yamaoka, chairman at sewing machine manufacturer JUKI Corporation and textile machinery manufacturer Kirloskar Toyota.
