Positive vibe following OutDoor show

20/07/2009

Higher attendance at OutDoor Friedrichshafen appears to have confirmed feelings that the outdoor sector is thriving despite the economic downturn.

Final figures reveal that attendance at the show, which ran July 16-19, rose 2% overall. Exhibitor numbers hit 810 at this year’s event and companies travelled from 38 countries to be at the show. Around 19,300 trade visitors from 90 countries were counted compared with18,900 at last year’s event.

“The outdoor sector is proving to be a lighthouse in a stormy economic sea. The increase in numbers of visitors at the fair is immensely encouraging and is another indication of the positive, forward looking attitude of the outdoor industry,” reported Mark Held, secretary general, European Outdoor Group (EOG).

Exhibition space also rose to 85,000 square-metres with the opening of the new East Foyer facilities.

OutDoor 2010 will take place July 15-18.
