Special underpants pass the test

A Japanese astronaut has revealed that he used a recent mission to the International Space Station (ISS) to test underwear that offered anti-microbial, anti-odour, anti-static and flame-retardant functionality.

Koichi Wakata said on returning to earth on July 31 that he had been able to wear the same pair of underpants for a whole month, thanks to the performance of the fabric used by the Japanese space agency, a mix of cotton and polyester coated with a silver-based finish.
