Garment results help China’s textile industry rebound

05/08/2009

New figures from China’s ministry of industry and information technology suggest that the country’s textile industry made a positive start to 2009.

The production of yarn, fabrics and garments had growth rates of 9.4%, 0.2% and 11.4% respectively, and the industry as a whole recorded profits of $6.25 billion for the first five months of the year, an increase of 1% on the same period in 2008. The ministry’s figures show that most of this profit came from garment manufacture.
