Yarn prices push Pakistan's costs up

13/08/2009

Syed Muhammad Asim Shah, chairman of an industry body in Pakistan, has said that export orders for garments made in the Asian country for the Christmas season have dropped by between 30% and 40% because of a rise in production costs, which have, in turn, resulted from a 10%-15% increase in yarn prices.

The increase in costs has led some exporters to say that they will not be able to accept any further orders this year unless customers agree to an increase in price.
