Fila to launch new clothing collection at US Open

Tennis-focused sports brand Fila has announced that it will launch a new autumn clothing collection, callled Tennis Heritage, at the 2009 US Open, which begins on August 31 in New York.
Marin Cilic, Dmitry Tursunov, Anna Chakvetadze, Janko Tipsarevic, Agi Szavay will wear Heritage clothing during the Grand Slam tournament. These athletes will also be wearing Fila’s Alfa performance tennis shoes.
Fila has said the clothing collection was inspired by Italian design and features red, white and pea coat blue colours to go with “cutting edge performance fabrications and cuts”. Solids accented by bold, contrasting stripes dominate this year’s look, with several pieces that feature flag-like diagonal stripes, a clear reference to the brand’s early 1970s designs.
The collectino includes the Heritage Skort in white and pea coat. This is a new player’s skort that is pull-up rather than wrap-around in Fila’s flat poly Spandex jersey material. The designs for tops offer a v-neck cap sleeve for a feminine covered shoulder look and two sleeveless cuts: an open racerback tank, and a sleeveless polo with narrow 5-snap placket, both with mesh inserts on the back for added venting. All three tops, in solid colours and contrast trim around the neck and arms complement both skort colours. The white Heritage dress with wide, solid red shoulder straps and contrasting red-and-blue trim is drop waist. New emphasis has been put on the women’s Heritage warm-up jacket with high knit collar and a warm-up pants with a waist that incorporates the design of Fila’s Personal Performance yoga pants.
The men’s Heritage collection in bold contrast colours offers six integrated pieces with three tops, a longer, elastic waist short in white and pea coat, and a cotton poly knit warm-up jacket and pants. The brand says that a short-sleeve polo with its signature printed window pane design and rounded drop tail is the highlight of the collection. There are also two short-sleeve crew-neck tops. One features bold red and pea coat blue trim on a white body, and the other, a stripe insert short sleeve, features the same flag-like diagonal stripes as the women’s line.
Comfort, ventilation and moisture wicking are the main technical features of the range.
