Tan-through swimwear wins French approval

According to swimwear company Kiniki, French women are embracing the idea of tan-through swimwear as an alternative to sunbathing topless.

It claims that in a recent poll involving young women in France showed that almost 50% were offended by nudity on public beaches. The company believes the tan-through swimsuits it provides allow women to get an all-over tan without having to expose themselves.

“These swimsuits are the perfect solution to changing trends,” says John Walker, founder of Kiniki.com. “It seems that feminist values and women’s attitudes to nudity are changing. Women want an all-over tan but don’t want to forsake their modesty.”

Kiniki’s tan-through range is transparent when held up to the light. Thousands of microscopic holes in the mesh fabric allow 80% of sunlight to penetrate through to the skin. However the garment is covered in 'magic eye'-style animal prints and abstract patterns which mean onlookers only see a solid block of fabric.
