Strong performance for sportswear at G-III
Outerwear and sportswear firm G-III Apparel Group has reported a lower second quarter loss than in the prior-year quarter, helped by a rise in revenue of more than 19%. The sportswear business performed particularly strongly.
Net loss totalled $2.8 million during the second quarter compared with a net loss of $3.9 million in the same quarter last year.
Sales rose 19.8% to $135.9 million compared with $113.5 million in the second quarter of 2008.
Morris Goldfarb, chairman and chief executive officer, said: "We are pleased with the performance of our business during the quarter. We saw strong results from our dress and sportswear businesses. At the same time, we built our order book to expected levels and are positioned well for the upcoming fall season in outerwear, dresses, sportswear and suits."
