CO2 neutral textiles presented at PV

08/09/2009

President of the chamber of commerce for Prato (Italy), Carlo Longo, will help introduce what has been described as the first CO2 neutral textile product at Première Vision (Paris, September 15-18). He will be joined by Riccardo Marini, president of Prato’s industry association at the press conference, which will take place at 3 pm on September 17.

Cardato Zero products are made using virgin wool fibres, by reusing recycled fabrics or by using both new and used scraps of knitwear.

Carding is a special process that breaks up clumps of fibre and aligns the individual fibres so that they are more or less parallel with each other. Carding can also be used to create blends of different fibres or different colours. When blending, the carding process combines the different fibres into a homogeneous mix. Carding also uses rollers and systems to remove vegetable matter contaminants from the wool.
