India’s textiles minister, Dayanidhi Maran, is to inaugurate an eco-friendly textile park in Palsana, Gujarat, on September 9.

Gujarat Eco-Textile Park Ltd (GETP) is located on a 300,000 square-metre plot about 22 kilometres from Surat.

According to the minister, 72 textile firms will initially set up at the new centre and the park is expected to generate 25,000 direct and in-direct jobs when it becomes fully operational.

Facilities at the park include a common effluent treatment plant, testing laboratories, a product development centre, a warehouse and a training centre.
