Germany-based Sugoi Performance Apparel has introduced a complete Race + Recovery (R+R) Compression product line for spring 2010. The collection is baed on brand new Piston fabric technology. Piston fabric is a tight warp knit with a high stretch modulus. Combined with the company’s PowerKnit process, 3D ergo fit panel Zone Construction and using an ultrafine 36-gauge knitting process, the fabrics are said to provide exceptional performance and recovery benefits.

Super-light Piston 140 is used for upper-body garments, while the denser Piston 200 makes up lower-body garments including calf guards. The R+R line provides performance benefits to athletes over a range of sports including running, triathlon, cycling and more.

Meanwhile, engineered graduated compression through ZoneConstruction creates specific compression rings that provide lateral forces against the body, with the greatest force at theextremities gradually decreasing closer to the heart. Each item in the R+R Compression line provides balanced graduated compression at the recommended compression values for athletic purposes that range between five and 15 mm Hg.

“Compression fabrics have been embraced by a wide range of athletes, and we’ve spent five years putting compression innovation in our products,” notes Sugoi president, Stan Mavis. “The performance benefits of compression have been proven, and with the spring 2010 line we’re introducing proprietary fabrics and manufacturing processes that will redefine the category.”
