Pakistan’s textile sector struggles

According to Pakistan’s Federal Bureau of Statistics, the country’s textile segment has really suffered since the start of the new fiscal year.

Textile exports for July and August fell 8.4% to $1.6 billion compared with $1.8 billion during the same two-month period last year.

Textile exports that increased included raw cotton, up 33.5%, cotton yarn, up 11%, yarn, up 29.5%, art silk and synthetic textiles, up 2.9%. However, declines were shown for cotton fabric, down 27.3%, carded cotton, down 80.8%, knitwear, down 12.4%, bed wear, down 11.3%, tents, down 10.7% and ready made garments, down 37.4%.
