Lectra launches new version of Kaledo

Textile and apparel industry technology provider Lectra has launched a new version of Kaledo its collaborative design management software platform.
The new version, Kaledo V2R1, enables creative teams to benefit from the latest advances in design technology, and brings design, product development, marketing and management teams together—helping them to collaborate when developing new trends and collections.
The software includes modules to create realistic simulations of prints, weaves and knits, and to develop variations in just a few mouse clicks. It functions on a platform specially devised to meet the needs of fashion companies.
Lectra argues that its range of tools enables designers to increase productivity while facilitating the exchange of ideas, visuals and data between teams.
The technology provider's chief executive, Daniel Harari, said on announcing the development: “Fashion companies today really have to evolve, as the market has changed. They are under enormous pressure to produce attractive, original styles at reasonable prices, and to do so faster and more frequently than before.”
He went on to explain that Kaledo is the result of more than 30 years' work in putting together design technology solutions through collaboration with "some of the biggest names in fashion". He said the new version was a step forward that would allow Lectra customer "to reach previously unequalled levels of productivity". Mr Harari also said that Lectra wanted not only to offer support to companies in the apparel and fashion industry as they face up to the market challenges of the present time, but also to help them prepare for the end of the economic downturn, "so that they emerge with an edge over their competitors".
