Gore awards certificate to new A&E thread
02/10/2009
Industrial sewing thread provider American & Efird (A&E) has said it is pleased with how the outdoor industry has reacted to a new product it brought to market earlier this year.
Most people have experienced the results of the capillary action of thread, A&E has said, pointing out that soggy feet, wet clothing and even damaged equipment can result from sewing thread wicking. Footwear, performance clothing and accessories and outdoor product manufacturers have worked to eliminate wicking by choosing special sewing threads. However, the North Carolina-based company believes most have been disappointed by “the limited non-wick effectiveness and poor sewability of threads” that have been developed for this purpose. It believes its new Anefil DRY products can provide an answer.
The DRY line, including Anefil Nylon DRY and Anefil Poly DRY, is an enhanced non-wick sewing thread, designed to maintain exceptional non-wicking performance in sewn products without compromising sewability. The products are designed to withstand multiple laundering cycles and still pass rigorous non-wicking tests.
The new non-wicking thread has been nominated by W.L. Gore & Associates, for Gore-Tex footwear applications, having successfully met all the testing criteria, to receive its recommended vendor certificate for 2009.
The products are available in several sizes and a full range of colours in high-tenacity nylon and polyester.
