Premiere to move into performance fabrics

07/10/2009

North Carolina-based yarn producer Premiere Fibers has announced it will invest $2.5 million over the next three years to convert one of its spinning lines to a line for manufacturing high-performance fabrics for military applications.

The company, a producer of nylon, polyester and other melt-spinnable filament yarns, will use a grant from a special employment fund in place for North Carolina.

It said it wanted to expand into performance fabrics because it wanted to keep its workforce in place and create new jobs.
