New eco labelling system to launch at TITAS 2009

07/10/2009

The thirteenth Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS) will run from October 14 to 16 in the Taiwanese capital's World Trade Centre.

For this edition of the event there will be 325 exhibitors from nine countries: Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, India, Germany, Poland and the Netherlands.

One of the highlights at TITAS 2009 will be the introduction of a new eco-textile labeling system. There will be a new 'Green Label' for textiles made from eco-friendly materials and a 'Gray Label' for those made through eco-friendly production processes which generate minimum environmental impact. The organisers of the event say this new system will help buyers to identify and access green textiles easily and efficiently. "With the soaring environmental awareness worldwide, eco-friendliness is becoming a new function for textiles. There is no doubt that eco textiles will be the star products at TITAS in the very near future," they announced in the build-up to TITAS 2009.

Innovations in functional textiles and trends analysis for autumn-winter 2010-2011 will also be on display at the exhibition, and the event also has a seminar programme covering analysis of the textile market.
