The Scottish Football Association (SFA) has confirmed a new sponsorship deal with kit manufacturer adidas.

The German sports brand has said it will put its most up-to-date performance technology into the shirts the Socttish national team will wear. SFA chief executive, Gordon Smith, said the deal would “lift the profile” of the Scotland team.

The company takes over from troubled Italian sportswear brand Diadora.

Mr Smith said: “The money that we generate through this new partnership will allow us to continue our huge investment programme in grass roots and youth football. Every commercial deal we sign and every partnership we enter into has one sole aim, to help us secure the future of our game.”
