Invista discovers cure for runs in hosiery

Fibre and polymer producer Invista has launched a new technology at Lycra fibre Moves, an event it hosted in Verona on October 8. The company said the innovation, the brand’s Fusion fibre, promises to “push boundaries with the legwear industry and design world”.

More than 300 key players from 24 countries worldwide attended the event.

Invista says the new fibre offers a solution to the problem of ladders in hosiery, an abrasion on the surface of hosiery that breaks the knit, and that it expects Fusion “to set a new benchmark in textiles for apparel applications”.

The Fusion fibre is based on a new patent-pending technology, what the company has referred to as “bi-component technology”, which delivers fusibility with high levels of stress-strain performance functions. These help to prevent runs while maintaining the stretch and recovery benefits of Lycra.
