Paiho showcases Spiral-Light

Taiwanese manufacturer of hook-and-loop systems and reflective material Paiho has come up with a new idea for helping runners and bike-riders stay safe in dark conditions.

Named Spiral-Light, the new product consists of a tube made of TPU film, with indentations laser cut into it all the way along. The tube has a battery-powered LED light at one end and users can press a button to activate the light in flash or in steady mode. When the light flashes, it reflects in all the laser cuts, giving the impression that a spiral coil is running through the tube, flashing red or white light on and off.

It’s too soon for any brands to have built the product into any collection yet, but Paiho believes some of the big names will find the idea attractive, especially since it’s possible for them to laser cut their own logos or brand names into the tube.

The company’s research and develop manager, Tony Tseng, likes Spiral-Light so much he has become the first to wear the product, having fitted two of the tubes into a pair of Mizuno running shoes. He explains that the flashing lights can fit onto the back of a jacket or backpack too if brands want.
