Dow Europe introduces new components for sports and outdoor shoes

Dow Europe has announced the availability of test samples from a portfolio of innovative developmental compounds designed to support moulders making parts for the footwear industry.

The chemical company says it high-performance developmental compounds for the manufacture of crosslinked (XL) foamed parts were designed together with API, an Italian company that supports the development and supply of technical solutions for a range of industries.

The new compounds—based on Dow proprietary polyolefins and chemistries—have been created with suppliers to sports shoe and walking and snow boots in mind. Dow says the new products offer the potential for lighter weight materials that offer comfort and durability, and good cost-effectiveness.
