Schoeller says some moisture management solutions dry sweat too fast
16/10/2009
Schoeller Technologies has announced that it will showcase applications for workwear for a wide variety of professions of its 3XDRY textile finish, which offers high levels of moisture management in workwear and protective clothing, at the A+A exhibition in Düsseldorf.
The Swiss company argues that many functional garments worn close to the body may take away sweat very fast, but that this prevents the natural human cooling system, in which sweat plays such an important part, cannot work properly.
3XDRY, though, quickly transports sweat into the middle of the garment’s fabric. From
there it starts evaporating, creating a comfortable cooling effect, supporting the natural cooling
mechanism of the body.
The company said that over the course of a long working day, this can really pay off.
A loss of fluid amounting to just 2% of body weight because of perspiration means
performance capacity can drop by up to 20%. And those who lose less moisture, also lose
fewer vital minerals.
Fabrics treated with 3XDRY will absorb moisture on the inside only, which means practically no perspiration marks on the outside.
Furthermore, textiles with the 3XDRY finish are water-repelling and significantly less susceptible to soiling.
