Stickers for customised athletic shoes

Two footwear designers who formerly worked for adidas have launched a start-up company in the north east of England with the backing of a special support body called the Design and Creative Fund.

The company, Sneakerart, is the brainchild of Ollie and Zoe Gilbertson, who have come up with a range of PVC-free transferable stickers, printed with non-toxic ink, as artwork and artwork that consumers can stick onto athletic shoes to brighten them up. Designs are easy to remove and change.

Zoe Gilbertson said: “Our initial idea came about while trying to find an easy way for people to customise their trainers. We saw there weren’t any easy options; producing customised shoes as a manufacturer relied on expensive technology and to do it yourself requires time and artistic skill.”

She said the funding Sneakerart has received will help it launch internationally.
