Sustainability discussion to take place in December

The Textile Institute in Manchester is to hold a networking event on December 2, with ‘The Sustainable Way’ as the theme.

The subjects that will come under detiled scrutiny at the evening discussion will include a ‘Sustainability Roadmap’ that the UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has launched, and REACH legislation on controlled substances.

Defra’s Dr Dorothy Maxwell, who leads a clothing project under the ‘Sustainability Roadmap’, will bring the audience up to date on the initiative, while Asif Shah, business development manager at Manchester-based testing services provider Shirley Technologies will talk about REACH.

Taking place on the evening of Wednesday, December 2 at the Friends Meeting House close to Manchester Town Hall in the city’s Albert Square, the event will start at 6.30 pm.
