Maglificio Ripa launches Skin Comfort
Italian circular knit fabric producer Maglificio Ripa has introduced Skin Comfort, a new technical synthetic fabric that can be worn by people with sensitive skin.
According to the company, it can even be worn by people with skin allergies or conditions such as contact dermatitis.
The new fabric is the brainchild of the company’s chairman, Luca Bianco, and Maurizia Botti a professor at Politecnico di Milan, who coordinated the project. It is based on Dryarn fibre technology, containing its moisture management and hypoallergenic attributes.
The fabric is currently undergoing ongoing testing at a Milan hospital and is being used in garments worn by patients with sensitive skin under careful medical supervision. The fabrics are being used in specific areas of the patients’ garments, while hypoallergenic cotton is being used in other zones for the sake of comparison. Preliminary results, which the company says have been very satisfactory, were presented at Italy’s dermatological society’s (SIDAPA’s) annual meeting on October 23.
