Under Armour signs MMA champion
Baltimore-based performance apparel and footwear company Under Armour has signed Mixed Martial Arts Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre to a multi-year endorsement deal.
Sportsnet Canadian Athlete of the Year 2008, Mr St-Pierre, known by his fans as GSP, will feature in imagery displayed in sporting goods stores across North America wearing the company's ColdGear, performance apparel designed to protect athletes in cold temperatures.
From spring 2010, he will become the face of Under Armour's BoxerJock and BoxerBrief Underwear and will endorse its Recharge suit, a suit designed to re-energise the body, promote muscle repair and reduce swelling following a workout.
Steve Battista, Under Armour senior vice president, brand, said: "Georges St-Pierre's continued success in MMA, his character and integrity, and his wide-reaching fan base make him a terrific brand ambassador for Under Armour.”
