09/11/2009

German sporting goods show ispo is to celebrate its 70th edition in 2010 as well as marking 40 years since the event’s launch.

The show, which will run February 7-10 next year in Munich, launched in 1970 covering 45,000 square-metres of exhibition space. It attracted 11,000 trade buyers from 34 countries.

Next year’s event, which will focus on sustainability, is expected to host 2,000 exhibitors across 175,000 square meters of space. An entire hall (Hall A3) will be dedicated to 'freeriding', and there will be more coverage of running and endurance sports.

Other highlights will include the Eco Responsibility Award, the ispo Outdoor Award, the ispo Boardsports Award, the European Ski Award and the BrandNew Award. The snow, ice and rock summit, presented by Marmot, will offer a platform for fashion shows, panel discussions, workshops and film presentations, this time with a focus on safety, sustainability and children.
