Nike opens Harajuku store

12/11/2009

Nike is to open a new store in Harajuku, Japan, on November 14. With demand for running shoes and sportswear reportedly growing in Japan, it seems all the big brands are looking for ways to maintain, and expand, their market share.

The new three-story flagship store is located in the fashion hub of Tokyo, within the Omotesando district. A range of advanced products and services will be on offer at the store, including a running shoe service which will involve making a video of the customer on a treadmill to assess which type of shoe would work best for them.

The store is particularly designed to target young consumers and will offer a range of technical benefits such as moisture management garments and quick-dry technology to draw their attention. Fashion will also play an important part, as there is a significant crossover between sport and lifestyle clothing in Japan at the moment.
