New gender-specific socks at Merrell
Outdoor footwear and apparel brand Merrell has launched its first sock range to complement the company’s outdoor footwear collection. The new line has been designed to accommodate the contrasting skeletal structure and movements of men and women.
The new socks can be worn for a variety of different activities including hiking, multi-sport and running. They feature Lycra at certain pressure points under the foot, above the heel and around the cuff to prevent slipping. The socks contain high-quality wool to keep the foot warm, dry and comfortable, and come with a three-year guarantee.
Each sock in the line is designed to be worn with a specific Merrell model. For example, the Outbound Mid Light Gore-Tex, a breathable rubber soled boot, can be worn with the men’s Hiking Classic sock, which offers underfoot cushioning and all-over insulation. The Outventure women’s sock range includes the Multi-Sport, for mountain biking or day hiking, which is designed to be worn with the Siren Sport shoe, which features a mixture of synthetic leather and breathable upper mesh.
Jonathan Pennington, UK marketing manager, commented: “We are delighted with the brand new Merrell sock range and have received great feedback from our loyal customer base. Our philosophy recognises the importance for gender-specific products, built around the contrasting bone structure and movement of men and women. The aim is to bring to every Merrell product, an unparalleled level of comfort and performance, for both outdoor adventurists and full-time athletes alike.”
