Brentano founder delivers eco-friendly textile lecture

Founder of textile firm Brentano, Iris Wang, gave a lecture on eco-friendly textiles at the ADC Fall Day of Design in Arizona, US, on November 4.

The session, entitled ‘The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Understanding Eco-Fabrics’ attracted 100 delegates.

Ms Wang, who is design director at Brentano, spoke about the various environmentally friendly aspects of green fabrics such as organic cotton, bamboo, eco wool and recycled polyester fabrics. She also discussed US and international third-party certification, examining and explaining the pros and cons of certification programmes such as LEED, MBDC, Oeko-Tex and GOTS, as well as the in-progress ACT NSF Standard for Sustainable Textiles.

Brentano makes a range of textiles including outdoor, fire-resistant and Nano-Tex fabrics.
