Yarn price rises cause crisis in Pakistan

The textile industry in Pakistan is close to crisis because the price of yarn keeps going up.

Reports from the Asian country suggest that yarn prices have doubled in the last four months.

Industry organisations have asked the government to take steps to ease supply and prices of yarns and fibres, but the authorities have failed to act so far.

Since the supply problems began earlier this year, textile mills in different parts of Pakistan have slowed or stopped production, local media have said.
