The International Oeko-Tex Association has announced that its 10,000th Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificate of the year has been issued to Anvil Knitwear, a New York-baed manufacturer of socially and environmentally responsible apparel and accessories serving the private label activewear market.
Oeko-Tex certification offers assurance that textile products are free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances that are believed to be dangerous to humans. Anvil received the certification for its AnvilOrganic sport shirt, making the entire AnvilOrganic apparel line and over 25 other conventional styles now Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, including its basic cotton T-shirt and a stain 'repel-and-release' sport shirts.
"Oeko-Tex certification is an important part of our overall product safety and integrity strategy," said Anthony Corsano, the company's chief executive officer, on receiving the latest certificate. "By making sure our products do not contain harmful substances, we are demonstrating our commitment to our consumers, our customers, our workforce and the communities in which we live and work. We are honoured to accept the 10,000th Oeko-Tex certificate on behalf of all the people who interact with our products."
