Merino Blend focus for PrimaLoft

Albany International, maker of PrimaLoft insulation, has announced that its main focus for the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market exhibition (Salt Lake City, January 21-24) will be on its PrimaLoft Merino Blend yarn and its application in socks, scarves, sweaters, base-layers and gloves.

The yarn is a blend of PrimaLoft ultra fine fibres with merino wool. The result, the company says, is “a silky-soft yarn with superior moisture transfer and performance properties”. It features Quick Draw Technology, a proprietary moisture management system that, according to Albany, transfers moisture vapour away from the skin twice as fast as merino wool alone, and has a 30% faster dry rate.

Socks made with PrimaLoft Merino blend yarn also provide increased durability, the company added. Outdoor brands such as Lorpen, Fox River, The North Face, Millet, adidas, Aku and Rjok are already using PrimaLoft Merino blend yarn in their performance sock lines.
