Polygiene signs up with prominent US partner
15/12/2009
Performance textile specialist Concept III has agreed a deal to market Swedish antimicrobial technology Polygiene in North America.
Polygiene’s patented antimicrobial technology employs ionic silver to inhibit the growth of micro-organisms. Silver ions continuously migrate to the surface of any material that has had Polygiene added to it and the ions suppress microbial growth. The Swedish company says the technology continues to work even if the product becomes worn or torn.
The Polygiene technology can be added at any point during manufacture from the fibre to finished goods, including footwear. It will not wash out, is approved by bluesign technologies, OekoTex and the US Environmental Protection Agency and is classified for class I medical use.
A specialist in the technology, Mike Sweet, will attend the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market exhibition in Salt Lake City (January 21–24) and will be on hand at the Concept III booth to discuss Polygiene with all visitors.
